Equestrian Elegance & Winelands Hospitality: Introducing the Klein Champagne Guest House

When you think of Franschhoek, you might picture rolling vineyards, award-winning wines and serene mountain views. At Klein Champagne, all of that exists, but there’s a story woven through the vines that makes our estate unique. It’s a story of horses, heritage and heartfelt hospitality, and it’s about to enter an exciting new chapter.

A Heritage Steeped in Wine and Horses

Klein Champagne isn’t a newcomer to the valley. Our family acquired one of Franschhoek’s oldest farms, founded in 1868, and turned it into a home where vines could flourish alongside horses. Today, the farm is more than just picturesque fields; it’s a haven for some of South Africa’s top sport horses, who lend an air of grace and enchantment to daily life.

The bond between equines and viticulture runs deep here. Each bottle in our Mel Wines collection is named after one of these noble animals, celebrating their spirit and character in every sip. This blend of viticulture and equestrian grace highlights the connection between the land, the vines and the lively creatures that call the farm home.

Reimagining Our Manor House

Our latest endeavour brings this heritage to life in a new way. The estate’s original manor house – a cornerstone of Klein Champagne’s story, is being lovingly transformed into a boutique guest house. The vision is to offer guests an intimate, relaxing way to experience the Franschhoek winelands.

Inside, light-filled rooms and cosy living spaces reflect the character of a working farm. Outside, tranquil gardens, beautiful horses and breathtaking views of mountains and vineyards invite guests to breathe deeply and slow down. It’s a peaceful escape where you can reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort.

A Farm Stay with a Wine Lover’s Twist

Staying at the guest house isn’t just about having a place to sleep; it’s about stepping into the Klein Champagne lifestyle. Our tasting room, home to the Mel Wines range, is just a stroll away, offering you the chance to sample award-winning wines crafted right on the estate. Imagine starting your day with coffee on your patio, exploring Franschhoek’s vibrant art and culinary scene, and then winding down with a glass of wine while you watch horses graze nearby.

What Makes the Experience Special

We want your stay to feel like visiting a friend’s farm, with a few luxurious touches. The boutique guest house will offer:
